The 4th Japan users meeting was held on November 10th & 11th last month at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center in Japan. Present from VMG were: Bill Svrcek, President; Glen Hay, VP of Business Development and Herbert Loria, Developer of Physical Properties.
On the first day we had three user presentations. The first presenter was Dr. Hori of Osaka University, who showed the practical usage of the VMGSim COM user interface. Two user presentations followed regarding the project of PIONA technology development. The next presentation was by JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation regarding a Naphtha cracking furnace modeling project which helped facilitate PIONA technology development. The final user presentation was by Fuji Oil Company, Ltd. The presentation was about EUREKA process modeling in regards to heavy oil cracking. This project was very challenging as accurately estimating the physical properties of heavy oil is essential.
The second day involved parallel hands-on training sessions, physical properties modeling sessions and reactor modeling sessions. We received many questions from the users and the meeting was closed successfully. VMG also took the opportunity to demonstrate some of the exciting new features that will be available in our next VMGSim v9.0 release.
