VMG USA Update
The 67th Annual Laurance Reid Gas Conditioning Conference took place February 26 – March 1 in Norman, OK. VMG was well represented at the conference; taking part in the comprehensive technical sessions and hosting industry experts in our hospitality suite.
There was a lot of interest in one of VMGSim’s newest features, the membrane unit op, as well as our unique ability to simulate sulfur recovery units dynamically. VMG’s USA team was able to showcase these capabilities, and many more, in our Great Gatsby themed hospitality suite where attendees were invited to travel back to the 1920s and enjoy period drinks and decor.
VMG also attended and exhibited at the AIChE Spring Meeting & 13th Global Congress on Process Safety in San Antonio, TX from March 26-30. We were pleased to catch up with existing clients as well as meet new contacts during the technical sessions and in the exhibition hall. Many discussions were had regarding our 2- and 3-phase pipeline and advanced reactor capabilities, particularly our first principles-based Ethylene Cracker.
Both events provided validation that VMG continues to be on the leading edge of process simulation technology even while expanding into new markets. We look forward to continuing our presence at key industry events to ensure we are informed on industry direction and technology needs.
VMG Europe Update
Virtual Materials Group (VMG) Europe, together with Kinetics Technology (KT) S.p.A (Maire Tecnimont Group) presented a paper entitled “SRF: Behind the Steel” at the Middle East Sulphur 2017 event in February.
Michele Manzulli from VMG Europe, together with Michele Colozzi from Kinetics Technology (KT) S.p.A (Maire Tecnimont Group) presented a paper entitled “SRF: Behind the Steel” at Middle East Sulphur 2017 12-16 February 2017 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The paper highlights the benefits of using rigorous Sulphur Recovery Facilities VMGSim models combined with real plant data to help operators taking a better decision on plant operation.
VMG Europe has helped KT to develop Supervisory Analytics for SRU (SA-SRU™), an engineering tool combining VMG process simulator (VMGSim™) and KT’s know-how, that is capable to supply engineering intelligence (monitor-optimization-run in safety-predict need of maintenance) to real operation, for all the sections of a Sulfur Recovery Unit. SA-SRU™ connects to plant data management system in real time and the tool is capable to accomplish data validation/reconciliation and reliable process optimization reaching operational excellence. Comparison of validated plant data vs model results has shown a high level of accuracy.
This is an example of a success story where collaboration between VMG and a customer has brought significant benefits and value to the customer.
