Continuing VMG’s legacy of constant improvement and innovation as a leader in heavy oil simulation, we are collaborating with Harvey Yarranton’s Heavy Oil Properties and Process group at the University of Calgary. Yarranton’s lab is equipped with a wide range of oil characterization, PVT, property measurement apparatus including a recently added visbreaking unit.

The effects of thermal conversion on phase stability (asphaltene precipitation) and property estimations are being explored with co-mentorship of graduate students by VMG’s reactive research group and Yarranton’s team.

Direct integration into VMG’s software package VMGSim’s PIONA molecular structure reactive environment allows for the best in industry solution for heavy oil blending and reactive modeling.
