Dynamics and a Unified Modeling Environment
Process simulation models deliver benefits in all phases of manufacturing, from early process development to design and engineering and production. These models may initially be somewhat simple and focused on phase behavior and material balances. As new information is gained or collected the model becomes more complete and a better model of reality. Along this path, process knowledge is increased and this knowledge leads to improved capital efficiency, engineering quality, and operational productivity. With a unified modeling environment you are positioned to capture these benefits throughout the life cycle of a manufacturing plant.
Scalability is key to obtaining full value from models, as one moves from conceptual steady state process models to detailed models that incorporate equipment design details and the control system and closely actual plant operation. The VMGSim environment is scalable by design to enable modeling across the full range of detail. The diagram below shows a conceptual design model evolving to a rating model that captures detailed equipment details and then finally to a dynamic model that includes the control system and pressure flow hydraulics that drive the flows in the process. The environment is also designed to preserve multiple levels of detail in a common simulation case.
